‘ Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever‘
(Hebrews ch. 13 v.8)
Although the Anglican Church as such came to this Land as recent as the mid-nineteenth century many of us rejoice in tracing our roots as Christians to the first Feast of Pentecost!
Our faith in Jesus Christ has brought us safely through many difficulties and not least in this present age. We believe we are called to seek just solutions to the conflict in this Land, based on truth and justice. We believe that this is not the era of building ‘separation walls’, this is the era of breaking down all barriers and with the same materials, build bridges of reconciliation. This is not always easy but we are encouraged by the various expressions of solidarity from our Christian brothers and sisters around the world.
Many young members of our communities are leaving to study abroad and seek a new life in a more friendly society. We are naturally sad to see them go. However, whole families are leaving too as they seek a safer environment for their children and, as yet, there is no right of return for the thousands of refugees.
Despite reduced numbers the work of our Church plays a significant role in this Land through our congregations, schools, hospitals and the like. Indeed, the needs are increasing daily which makes us very appreciative of the support of our friends abroad and the knowledge of their prayers for peace and reconciliation.
Together we can demonstrate our conviction that:
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever
Which gives us strength for each new day and the courage to persevere.
